We have been invited by St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth, to give a concert to help raise funds for their organ and new piano.
We regularly use St Ninian’s for rehearsal and for concerts so are delighted to be appearing in concert on Sunday September 9th at 7.00pm.
The concert will include an arrangment of Aesop’s Fables by British composer Bob Chilcott. Composed in 2008, this is a charming and witty setting of four of the famous fables including ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’.
Britain is a country with a wealth of songs that have captured life, love, the times and beautiful landscapes and places that tell the story of this great nation and all its peoples. We draw on this rich repertoire with arrangements of folksongs from acrosss the country, by many of our finest composers. These will include songs from Scotland (Afton Water, Loch Lomond), from England (Early One Morning, Brigg Fair, Yarmouth Fair) and from Wales (Swansea Town).
Interspersed we will have some of MacMillan’s Strathclyde Motets, Daemon Irrepit Callidus by György Orbán and may step back in time with baroque masterpieces from Orlando Gibbons, Jachet Arcadelt and Josquin Lebloitte dit des Prez.
The concert is to help raise funds for St Ninian’s fabulous organ, one of the finest organs in Scotland.
